Cosmetic Surgery Considerations

Here at Attwaters Accidents we have been made aware that over the course of the pandemic there has been a surge in Brits having cosmetic procedures abroad.  Before you decided to have cosmetic surgery we want to highlight some considerations.

We noted with concern and sadness that complications from patients who have travelled for surgery have been rising. 17 British Nationals have died since 2019 following procedures in Turkey. The government is now advising against travelling abroad for such treatments.

One of the reasons for such an increase has been attributed to the rise in people working from home – the so called ‘Zoom Boom’. The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) states that: ‘The demand for aesthetic procedures [is] driven by increased awareness of one’s appearance on screen’.

Summer is now here. This can be a time when many of us are more conscious of our appearance. You may even be considering cosmetic procedures as a result.

In the UK the majority of cosmetic procedures are carried out safely.  However, no surgery is risk free. If things do go wrong it can lead to serious complications, which can impact both your physical and mental health.

The NHS website has some very helpful guidance. Take a look to understand what you should do, before you have any procedure. Amongst the advice to reduce risks it’s important to:

  • Speak to an expert
  • Do your own research
  • Understand the costs
  • Choose a qualified and reputable practitioner

Unfortunately, even with careful preparation things can go wrong. We understand you may be left in physical and emotional pain.  The team here at Attwaters are here to help when things do not go as they should.

If you think you may have grounds for a cosmetic surgery claim. please don’t hesitate to get in touch with our team of experts.
